I had the absolute best time on Mild to Wild Rafting’s five-day Cataract Canyon trip back in 2022. This was easily one of the most memorable adventures I’ve ever done!

We arrived the day before for a thorough briefing that got everyone excited and prepared. The next morning, we showed up early and ready to hit the river. Because COVID was still affecting group sizes, our trip had a nice small group feel, which made everything even more personal and relaxed.

All our gear and personal items traveled on a bigger covered and powered boat that comfortably fit the whole group — it was such a smart setup and made the logistics effortless. Under the expert guidance of our fantastic guides, the days were perfectly balanced between thrilling whitewater and pure relaxation. Whenever things heated up or we just wanted a break, we could pull over, jump in the cool river to refresh, or even hop in kayaks to tackle the rougher sections. It felt like the guides knew exactly when to push the excitement and when to let us soak it all in.

Every single meal was catered by the guides and absolutely delicious — from hearty breakfasts to satisfying riverside dinners. They kept us well-fed and happy the entire time.

But the nights… the nights were something else entirely. Being out in the remote desert of Canyonlands, far from any city lights, we were treated to one of the most incredible night skies I’ve ever seen. People in cities are truly robbed of this kind of majesty. We could spot asteroids, satellites, and thousands of stars with the naked eye. Lying on the beach after a full day on the river, staring up at that vast, sparkling sky, was pure magic.

If you’re looking for a real adventure — world-class rapids, stunning red rock canyons, side hikes to ancient sites, refreshing swims, and unforgettable evenings under the stars — this five-day Cataract Canyon trip is it. Mild to Wild did an outstanding job, and I can’t recommend them (or this trip) highly enough. I’d go back in a heartbeat!
